Term Two

Hi All!

Welcome back!  This term is a very short term of only 9 weeks, yet it is going to be a very busy one.

Reading: Our focus for reading this term will be around New Zealand film reviews and plots.  Our other focus for reading will be around civil rights.

Maths: The first 4 weeks will be numeracy based work, such as decimals, percentages, proportions and ratios.  The last 5 weeks will be our strand work on measurement.

Writing: This term we will continue writing on a variety of topics.  We also have a small group who are working on writing the plot for our class movie.

Inquiry: This term we are writing, acting and producing our very own class movie that will be shown at the school-wide movie night at Hoyts. 

Oral Language: Sticking with our Inquiry theme, each student has been given 3 actors/actresses and will be presenting some exciting presentations.

Physical Education: This term students are in groups of 5 and are working together to plan a Physical Education lesson that involves a warm up, skill and modified game that will be taught to the Year 3/4 classes.

Class Eagle

A very big congratulations goes to Room 19 who successfully reclaimed the syndicate Class Eagle and also won the Darra Pin from the school Cross Country.
 
We are really looking forward to defending it against the other classes at the syndicate spelling bee.  If you have time to view Room 23's class blog you will see their farewell pictures that were taken shortly before handing over the class eagle to its rightful owners.

School Swimming Sports - Won by Room 19
School Duathlon lost to Room 18 who then lost it in the
Syndicate Cantamath Competition to Room 23 who sent it back to Room 19 from the
School Cross Country.


 Literacy Quiz Team

Congratulations to Rosie Howard and Emma Brook who were selected to represent the school against 67 teams from schools all over Canterbury.  Both school teams placed an impressive 3rd and 19th place.

Cantamath Team

Congratulations to Emma Brook, Samantha Bishop, Lauren Scott and Angus Hamilton who all made the school Cantamath teams and will be competing next term against all the schools in Canterbury.
